Minister for Industries and Production, Hammad Azhar, Thursday announced that the Ministry of Industries has held a meeting with major oxygen producers and reached a decision with them to supply or redirect oxygen to healthcare sector on priority basis.
The Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar shared on his official Twitter handle @Hammad_Azhar that, “The Ministry of Industries has held a meeting with major oxygen producers and reached a decision with them to supply/redirect oxygen to HealthCare on a first priority basis.”
He said, “3 additional oxygen plants in the private sector will also be coming in production within next 2 weeks.”
The Government of Punjab has already imposed Section 144 for a period of two months to stem oxygen cylinders hoarding in the province, on the recommendation of the Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care.
Punjab Home Department enforced Section 144 against hoarding of oxygen cylinders, regulators, concentrators, pulse oximeters and against illegal profiteering. Secretary Health Punjab, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Usman said Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar has been personally monitoring facilities provision for COVID-19 patients.
